Create A Page
Now with VisualWebb you can create a web page from scratch or use a designed template.
Create a Web Page from Scratch
There are two templates to select from when designing a page from scratch.
- Default Template – standard layout with sidebar attached for widgets.
- One Column – single page with no sidebar for pages such as Google Calendars that require lots of room.
Begin a page by selecting “Pages -> Add New” from the menu bar on the left of the website control panel. Enter a title for the page below the “Edit Page” header then select the Publish button on the right of the screen. You have just created a new page with no content. 🙂
Now to select the template from the template drop-down on right of the screen. Select either One Column or Default Template to begin, then click the Update button (use to be the Publish button). Press this button often is not required as a draft of your work will be saved but it’s always better to be safe than sorry. I also like to View Page often to see how my work is progressing.
Now to get to work filling the page with your content. You will be using the Visual Editor in the center of the page.
If you just simply type in the text box area and publish your new web will fill with content but using the powerful formatting functions from the above menu will make it shine. It’s very similar to using other text editors such as Word or Wordpad from Windows, in fact you can copy from a Word document and the formatting will be placed in your new web page.
Inserting a Picture or Other Media
The only function that may need extra explaining is the media input button. This is the sun symbol located next to the “Upload/Insert” text. Clicking on the will produce a window that has five tabs at the top. The first will allow you to upload a photo or image. After upload a new edit window will appear allowing for small adjustment as to where the picture goes (left or right) and an “Insert Post” button to place it in your web page.
